UPDATE: Name change approved.

The Boston Licensing Board decides tomorrow whether to let Who's on First change its name to the Bullpen as part of a transformation into a family-friendly restaurant, complete with tables and booths.

Jack Diamond, attorney for owner Robert Paratore, said the Red Sox, who own the building, have approved the change and that the two sides are negotiating a new lease that would let the new restaurant open.

"It will no longer be a nightclub, a night-life venue," Diamond said, adding the dance floor would also be taken out to make room for tables.

Who's on First has been shut since Thanksgiving, when a customer exiting at closing time was shot to death - by a man police say had also been in the bar earlier in the evening.

In September, two women who say they were in the bar were shot outside at closing time, although Paratore said he could find no evidence they were ever in the bar that night.

In both cases, the licensing board determined the bar did not share any of the blame for the shootings.
