A Boston health inspector today shut Wabora, 254 Newbury St., for a variety of violations that included raw tuna and salmon being kept too warm, a food preparer not washing his or her hands and another handling vegetables with bare hands.

Also, there was evidence of fresh rodent droppings in the restaurant, workers were spotted using sponges instead of sanitized cloths for wiping down surfaces and dishes were not being washed with any sanitizer - in a machine with broken gauges.

Other violations included: The owner was unable to provide proof that food handlers had been trained in keeping sushi rice safe and did not know the basics of proper restaurant dish washing.

The restaurant can reopen after passing another inspection.
